The Toyota Highlander sports a wide range of safety features; from classics like airbags and seatbelts, to more modern additions like driver assistance features. Unlike some SUVs that require upgrades, the Highlander comes standard with a bundle of driver assistance features. The Safety Sense P package ensures that regardless of which trim of the new Highlander drivers opt for, they'll have access to driver assistance features to increase driving confidence.

Safety Sense P Overview

  • Lane departure alert with steering assist: This system can assist drivers by helping to ensure that your vehicle stays within lane markings. If the system detects that your vehicle is veering from its lane, it can nudge your vehicle back into the lane with corrective steering inputs.
  • Dynamic radar cruise control: This system allows drivers to preset a speed to follow the vehicle ahead of you. The system can adjust your speed to automatically slow down and maintain the distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you. If necessary, the system can also completely halt your vehicle, and resume driving when traffic resumes.
  • Pre-collision system with pedestrian detection: this system can help drivers by detecting a vehicle or pedestrian in front of your vehicle. If detected, the system can potentially help mitigate or avoid the collision by automatically applying the brakes to reduce your speed.
  • Automatic high beams: This driver assistance feature can help boost driving confidence by utilizing and in-vehicle camera to detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles to automatically toggle between high and low beams.
